Interview Your Ideal Luxury Clients

The goal of the interviews is to find out the desires of your ideal client, understand her challenges and use her exact words in your future marketing and programs. You will also get some ideas for your content and offer and might get some referrals and leads for new clients.

Think of people you already know in your list/network who have the same profile as your ideal client.

Reach Out

Send them a friendly message asking if you could interview them for research purposes. Share that you are creating some new content and program that’s aligned with who you’re serving and would love to pick their brain for 15 minutes. Tell them you really value their opinion and would love to chat. You can send them a link to your calendar so they can directly book something that works for them. If it feels more aligned for you, you can offer it as a 15 min interview and then a free 15 min consult based on what you think would benefit them.

Please aim to speak to 5 - 10 people.

Example reach out:

You will need to rewrite for your audience and topic

“Hey X, I am looking to interview a few high-achieving entrepreneurs for market research purposes on a program I’m really excited about developing and you came to mind. I think you’d have some great insights and I’d love to chat for 15 minutes! Would you be interested? Here’s a link to my calendar if you’re open to chat. You’ll also receive some insights from my practice if I see any spots where I can be of assistance. Let me know!”

You can also put out a call out online. Be specific if you do a callout.

Example social media post:

Short Version:
“Are you a high-achiever who also cares about your eating habits? Comment below -- I have a question for you!” (then send a follow-up like the one above via DM).

Longer Version:
I’m looking for 5 high-achieving women to interview for market research purposes for an exciting project I have in development!

Interview

Have a 20-30 min zoom call (best) — take notes! Use “Otter" app to transcribe their words so you don't have to take so many notes (ask their permission for this) Or invite them to complete a Google or TypeForm.

Essentially you want to know: what are their goals? What’s in their way? And how do they speak about it/what words do they use? Also ask them where they like to hang out online and what they google in relationship to their problem

Example Questions (You can create your own)

  • Tell me about you: What do you do? What’s going well right now? (Start out on a high note, build rapport)

  • What are your 3 biggest goals when it comes to (YOUR TOPIC: eg business/health/career/intimacy and relationships)?

  • What’s important to you about reaching these goals?

  • What would be the best part of reaching X goal for you?

  • What might be holding you back from achieving this on your own?

  • What are your biggest struggles in this area?

  • When do you notice those challenges most in your daily life? (Get colourful real life scenarios from them, good for future content)

  • What would you rate yourself with XYZ AREA from 1-5 scale? 5 being perfect and where you want to be, 1 being there’s a lot of work to do and it’s a top priority for you to work on it.

  • What would it need to look like to be a 5 for you?

  • Out of these 5 words what are the ones that pop out at you that you’d want to work on? (DIFFERENT WORDS FROM YOUR BRAND TO CHECK LANGUAGE, ex. Self-love, empowerment, business strategy, mindfulness, money mindset, abundance, intimacy, embodiment, etc — choose 5 so you test what resonates with the person the most).

  • What kind of program/coaching would be helpful for you when it comes to ( THE TOPIC THAT STOOD OUT)? What would you want to learn about?

  • Where do you hang out most online? What Facebook groups are you in? Do you follow any hashtags on IG? Who do you follow the most?

  • What do you search on Goggle in relationship to solve the problem mentioned?

You can ask other questions that feel more in tune with you, too. The goal is just to get a sense of their goals and their challenges and listen for their words.

Soft Pitch

Optional: After your questions, if you feel a good vibe with the person, you could do a soft pitch for your 1-1 program.

Something like this...

“Hey, you know what, after chatting today I think you’d actually love the program I’m launching and get so much out of it. It would really help with the XYZ you mentioned that’s challenging you —  that’s literally what I solve for people. I’m offering some extra bonuses and exclusive rates for the next round of sign-ups. Is that something you might be interested in exploring? We can set up a different time to chat about that if you like.”

If they say yes, set up the discovery call and do this in a separate conversation (to be mindful and honouring their time and setting a separate container).

If not, you could say “Can I get back to you when it's put together”?

Analyse Results

What to look for in the results:

  • What words are your ideal client using that fit your message but that you hadn’t been using or hadn’t thought of?

  • What free product would most of these people opt-in for?

  • What could I create in short videos or long-format masterclass that would provide a lot of value for these people?

  • What pains and challenges did they have in common?

  • What was most important to these people about achieving their goals?

  • What pieces of social media content/blog posts/podcasts could I create based on the issues and desires they shared with me?

Acknowledgement

Ask for permission

Our session will be 30 minutes of 1:1 time together, and we'll cover 3 objectives.

  1. The first one is to get you really clear on what your vision is and what you want your life and business to look like

  2. We'll discover the disconnect that's currently standing between you and your big vision.

  3. I'll help you shed light on what's possible for you in the next few months and we'll create an action plan

There's also a fourth objective which is to see if we're a good fit to work together and if we both think it is, and you'd like my help, we can discuss what that might look like. That's only if I know that I can help you, and you are ready - I might offer you the opportunity to become one of the select few people I take on this month.

QUESTION 1

Find out what they want. If you don’t know what they want you can’t help them get it!

ASK:

  • What’s your big vision?

  • What’s your financial goal?

  • What is it that you truly desire?

THEN ASK:

  • What’s the reason behind your big vision?

  • What is your financial goal tied to? (new house, car, vacation, etc?)

QUESTION 2

Find out what’s keeping them from having what they want. If you don’t know the obstacle, you can’t help them overcome it!

ASK:

  • What do you think is keeping you from that big vision?

  • What is the obstacle you’re experiencing in hitting your financial goal?

  • What is stopping you or slowing you down from having what you truly desire?

If they say they don’t know, ASK:

  • If you were to GUESS what your obstacle is, what would you guess?

NOTE: This is really tough for some people and this awareness is one of the biggest gifts you can give to someone. You may need to ask additional leading questions to “dig” a little to find the TRUE obstacle. For example, someone who says their obstacle is that they don’t have enough clients, through you will find out that their true obstacle is that they are terrified of asking for a sale. They have prospects, but because of their fear, can’t close them.

QUESTION 3

Uncover their sense of urgency. If you don’t know their sense of urgency to fix the problem, you won’t be able to get them to make a decision. This helps you uncover their hidden pain so you can help them out of it.

ASK:

  • What will happen if you don’t fix this problem?

  • Where will you be 3-6 months from now if this problem isn’t addressed?

After they answer, ASK:

  • What does that mean to you?

  • How does that feel to you?

QUESTION 4

Confirm their commitment. If you don’t know if they are willing to change, you can’t help them!

ASK:

  • Are you willing to do what it takes to change this situation?

  • Are you willing to do what it takes to overcome this obstacle?

Once you have their commitment, you can confidently offer your product or service because you know what they want, why they want it, why they aren’t getting it, and what their pain is around not getting it.

QUESTION 5

Connect the dots. If they don’t see that your help is what they need, they won’t make a decision.

ASK:

  • Based on what you’re telling me your obstacle is, if you learn how to (insert skill or outcome here), would you agree that you could overcome that obstacle and create what it is you want?

NOTE: It’s important that the service/program you’re offering will truly help them accomplish the (insert skill or outcome here) as above.


Pre-Call Ritual Checklist

  • Do activation/meditation/morning ritual to activate your higher self.

  • Remember that they booked the call with you because they wanted to work with you. You don’t need them. They need you. Have their best in mind. The real question is “Is this person even the right fit to work with me?”

  • Be 100% detached from the outcome. Have a genuine conversation. Slow, deliberate, energetically relaxed, grounded, laid back.

  • Be in your feminine energy to receive the client and money. This is not a coaching call. Do not be in the masculine energy to coach people.

Use a benefit-driven title or hook to grab attention.

Example: “How I went from selling $500 packages to selling 5-figure offers.” ; “Transforming Dreams into Luxury: How I Created Beauty, Luxury and Freedom in My Business”;

  • Relatable (the pain they’re going through now)

  • Movie scene (vivid description of “day in the life”)

  • Emotions (how that made you feel)

Example: I still remember the days when I was in corporate 9-5. Every morning from my office window I would look up at the blue sky, wishing I could grow wings and fly. Every morning I longed for something else: a different and more beautiful world. One where there was freedom, inside and out. The financial freedom. The freedom to do what I love. The freedom to create without restrictions. The freedom to be me.

AFTER

Your new self (3-5 short sentences)

  • Aspirational (the Heaven outcome your dream client wants)

  • Movie scene (vivid description of “day in the life”)

  • Emotions (how that made you feel)

Example: Now I’ve worked with world-class female coaches and entrepreneurs to unleash their most iconic version, and helped them transform from the world's best secret to the sought-after icon in their field, attract high-end clients, and elevate their authority, celebrity, income, and impact online. Selling 5 figure offers with ease is the new normal for me. It feels surreal that I’m actually doing what I love and have the beauty, luxury, and freedom I was looking for when I started my business.

KEY LESSON OR SHIFT YOU HAD

Example: Here’s what I did:

There is an elegant and feminine way to achieve this… You become a higher level of yourself, embody your luxury brand, and allow yourself to receive them in an effortless, lean-back, feminine receiving, and joyful way.
